It would be lonely to be on an island by yourself

Wars are terrible circumstances that happen when there is too much conflict and even hate. Russia has invaded Ukraine. This war has been going on for weeks. Most people wish it would just end before it gets worse. Millions of people are suffering because of it.

There are different people and different countries throughout the world. People should be able to get along. No man is an island. People need people.

It would be well for us to remember the poem and the song which were written, “No Man Is An Island.”

The song which was based on the poem by John Donne was written by Joan Whitney and Alex Kramer. The popular song was sung and recorded by Joan Baez.

The words to the poem, “No Man Is An Island,” are as follow:

No man is an island, No man stands alone,

Each man’s joy is joy to me, Each man’s grief is my own.

We need one another, So I will defend,

Each man as my brother, Each man as my friend.

I saw the people gather, I heard the music start,

The song that they were singing Is ringing in my heart.

No man is an island, Way out in the blue,

We all look to the one above, For our strength to renew.

When I help my brother, Then I know that I

Plant the seed of friendship, that will never die.

We could take a lesson from those words. They are a good reminder of how life should be lived.

No man is an island. We are on this earth together. There is no reason to always be fighting. There is no excuse for all the hate, contention, racism, discrimination, prejudice, and discord in the world.

The world needs more love and peace.
